AFFI to Host International Buyers Delegation at the 2009 AFFI Frozen Food Convention in February

MCLEAN, VA – The American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) today announced, for the fifth consecutive year, it will host a delegation of international buyers as part of the 2009 AFFI Frozen Food Convention to be held February 21-25 in Monterey, Calif. Working in conjunction with the State Regional Trade Groups (SRTGs), buyers from China, Korea, Japan and Germany will descend on Monterey to conduct business with registered convention attendees.

Beginning on day one of the 2009 AFFI Frozen Food Convention, participating international buyers will be matched with registered U.S. processed food companies through one-on-one business meetings. The international delegation participating includes companies interested in purchasing goods from categories such as frozen dairy products, frozen snack foods, frozen seafood, frozen ready-to-eat meals, frozen appetizers and frozen fruits and vegetables among others.

“The AFFI Frozen Food Convention is the premier international convention to bring together organizations from all sectors of the frozen food supply chain,” said Interim President Robert L. Garfield. “The opportunity for domestic producers to expand into the export market or build upon their existing business relationships is a direct benefit for domestic producers attending the AFFI Frozen Food Convention.”

Of particular interest to those companies looking to export their goods will be a seminar for registered companies on “Becoming an Expert Exporter,” also to be held on day one. In the seminar, representatives from the SRTGs will deliver insights on the necessary steps to help companies in exporting their goods to international markets.

The AFFI Frozen Food Convention provides a forum for conducting business and keeping abreast of industry issues for its member companies and those with whom they conduct business. This approach gives member companies greater value than a typical trade show.

The American Frozen Food Institute is the national trade association promoting and representing the interests of all segments of the frozen food industry. AFFI works to foster industry development and growth, and advocates before legislative and regulatory entities on the industry’s behalf.
