American Frozen Food Institute Launches Web Site Promoting Safe Microwave Cooking
Microwaveovenfacts.com Provides Consumers with Safe Microwave Cooking Information

MCLEAN, VA – The American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) today announced the launch of microwaveovenfacts.com, a new Web site offering valuable information to consumers about the safe preparation of foods using a microwave oven. Visitors to the site will find wattage information for individual microwave units, best practices for food preparation and other resources to aid in safe microwave cooking.

“Public health and safety is a priority for AFFI and its member companies, and microwave ovens are used to prepare many of the foods consumers purchase,” said AFFI Interim President Robert L. Garfield. “This Web site will offer information on microwave oven units and safe cooking practices, as well as other valuable resources that will further empower consumers to prepare foods safely using microwave ovens.”

As the only association exclusively representing the frozen food industry, AFFI proactively undertook this initiative to improve consumer awareness of microwave safe cooking. This will allow many consumers to know the power wattage of the microwave in their kitchen. Armed with this important information, consumers will have greater opportunity to properly prepare foods in their microwave oven according to package instructions.
